Patient Terms of Use

Last updated: 9/9/2026

1. What this platform is

Ubuntu M and B Care is a digital tool that helps you book visits, receive information, message your midwife and track your pregnancy or postnatal journey. It supports - but does not replace - clinical care delivered by a qualified midwife or doctor.

2. Not an emergency service

The platform is not monitored 24/7. In a medical emergency, call your nearest emergency service immediately or use the in-app Emergency button, then travel to the closest hospital. Do not wait for an in-app reply.

3. Accurate information is your responsibility

You agree to provide truthful and complete details during onboarding, including your ID or passport, medical history, allergies, medication and pregnancy stage. Care decisions are based on what you share. Withholding or falsifying information may put you and your baby at risk and may result in the clinic declining care.

4. Identification and verification

You must bring the original ID, driver's licence or acceptable proof of identity to your first appointment. Uploading a copy during registration is helpful but does not replace in-person verification.

5. Care assessment and referral

Our screening questions (previous births, C-section history, chronic conditions, pregnancy loss, ability to attend antenatal check-ups from 34 weeks, and similar) support your midwife in preparing safe care. Your midwife may recommend hospital-based care, additional tests or referral to a specialist. Final care decisions rest with your clinical team, in consultation with you.

6. Messaging and AI features

In-app messaging is for non-urgent care coordination. AI-generated summaries or suggestions are aids for your midwife and must not be treated as a diagnosis or prescription. Response times are within normal clinic hours.

7. Privacy and data

Your personal and health information is stored securely and shared only with your assigned clinical team and authorised clinic staff for the purpose of your care. We do not sell your data. You can request to view, correct or deactivate your account at any time from your profile page.

8. Account and access

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Sharing your account with another person is not permitted. If you deactivate your account and later return, we will reconnect you to your original patient file where possible.

9. Payments and plans

Care plans and consultation fees are indicative. Final fees are confirmed by the clinic. Medical aid claims are the patient's responsibility unless expressly arranged with the clinic in writing.

10. Cancellations and no-shows

Please cancel or reschedule appointments at least 24 hours in advance. Repeated no-shows may lead to a booking restriction to protect availability for other mothers.

11. Respectful use

Abusive, discriminatory or threatening behaviour toward staff or other patients - including through in-app messaging - is not tolerated and may result in immediate termination of your access to the platform and clinic services.

12. Limits of liability

Ubuntu M and B Care provides the platform on a best-effort basis. We are not liable for outcomes arising from inaccurate information provided by the patient, missed appointments, delayed messages, or use of the platform outside its intended purpose.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be communicated via the app. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
